How to select the good quality tempered glass?

In nowadays, the glass becomes more and more popular building material, and for safety, contractors and builders are more like to use tempered glass to build the doors, windows, canopy, railing, fence, screens, shelves, etc. Because the tempered glass is 3-5 times stronger than normal annealed glass.
Tempered glass, also call toughened glass, hardened glass, reinforced glass, ESG glass, can do 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 19mm, color clear, bronze, blue, green and grey, size could reach to 3x8m, and can do sandblasted and screen printing, with so many different types and processing, do you know how to select the good quality tempered glass?
First, check debris
All of us know that the tempered glass is safety glass, when it is broken, it will become small obtuse angles granules, not sharp pieces, won’t hurt human. Generally, for one piece 50x50mm tempered glass, it will be more than 40 small debris when it is broken, sometimes, allowing few long debris, but can’t be knife-like long strip of debris, and it should be roughly parallel with the edges of the glass, if not parallel, the angle can’t be exceed 45 degrees. If the tempered glass debris can’t match those features, then, it is substandard products, not good quality tempered glass.
Second, check stress speckle
Observe the reflected light of the tempered glass under some special natural light (or polarized light), we can see there are light and dark stripes on the glass surface, this inconsistent brightness is called the stress speckle. At present, even the most advanced technology in the world can’t completely eliminate the stress speckle, but can be reduced. So the lighter stress speckle, the better quality tempered glass.
Third, check flatness
Normally, the annealed glass is flatter than tempered glass, because when the tempered glass is fabricated by heating annealed glass to high temperature and cooling it rapidly, it will change the glass flatness. So for tempered glass, the more flat, the better quality will be.
Forth, check heat soak or not
Tempered glass has the inherent characteristic of self-explosion, it is very hard to avoid. But if the tempered glass has done the heat soak, we can eliminate more than 90% self-explosion possibility. So when we buy the tempered glass, we should confirm with factory whether the tempered glass has done the heat soak.
Fifth, check certification mark
Almost all the good quality tempered glass factories are qualified, so there will be certification mark on the tempered glass, such as CCC, CE, ANSI, etc. If the tempered glass without quality certification mark, maybe the factory is not qualified, and should be worried about the quality.
